At twice the price? I don't think any ordinary user would need it.
I had ECC RAM in my P6-233, but it had next to no effect since the machine
crashed so often because of Win95 that it never got a chance to crash due to a
memory failure.
It's one of those things that you only need if you absolutely must have a high
data integrity (just like no private user buys a RAID 5 or a cooling system the
size of a tennis court).
