Every aspect apart from what is needed for the program to think for itself, if
cut out during tests, would be most interesting for the chess loving consumer, I
think. This certainly applies to the opening books, except for pattern
recognition purposes.
Others bells and whistles can be added later, and even retested. Even if the
testing seems much more cumbersome, in truth, it speaks much much more per 100
games than the normal mass-production games, which is simply idiotic, in many
ways, I think.
I mean e.g.
Program A vs Program B both with books off 20 games
Program A books off vs. program B books on 20 games
Program A books on vs. program B books on 20 games
Program A books on vs program B books off 20 games
even though this is only 80 games, it shows much much more than 100 games with
only both books on.
