I don't think it's false modesty.
With the big wins by both Junior 5 and Deep Fritz over the CM8K.
This match could determine whether Tiger is #1 or not as an equally
large win is required. And just because those two produced a large win
don't mean Tiger will automatically, especially after only 5 or 6 games.
