i can take my 550 pentium lll and tiger 14 or gambit tiger, go to chess.net, icc, or yahoo advanced. play the top programs at each site, and lose most games against the 1200-1300-1500amds and 1500-1700pentium4's. they will crush my tiger 14 or gambit tiger on the 550 with 256 megs ram with win98. but with my 1500 and tiger 14 or gambit tiger, i can beat or have beaten---nope in this forum i am not going to finish that statement. but i can tell you this, at the chess servers, against the top operators, tiger on a 550 cannot play against the top ids. but with the 1500 it can beat or sometimes draw, any id. that statement is from experience. that is something i have noticed about the guys that post here. the gamers that play a lot of games at these sites that know all of this, i dont see them posting here. but we are not supposed to--right. the intent for this site was program and code discussion. so you might be right--maybe i should not post here and only read. hey---but i am just a gamer. thats all. and i think this site is cool. the only thing i am saying is----i wont use my 550 at any site anymore---i go to win, not to have fun, i go for blood,yup if my mouse is not wet fron sweat, the game was to easy----i try to play the top rated programs in standard games. i cant win with the antique 550. my wife uses it to see what happen on the soap operas she missed that day. it is outdated for playing the top ids at any server. when will the 1500 be outdated----not sure.if i am still spending my money on the latest programs and the latest hardware then i will know. i like to build hot rod computers, overclock them, go to the chess servers with one of the strongest programs and test, test, test, test, 100's of games----nope most of the top gamers that i know have 1000's of games. gamers cant write code, gamers cant program, but the top gamers,,,man they sure can play a mean comp-comp game. wanna know something else i have learned about hardware. when i used to play 1000's of games with my 550 against humans---they could draw alot and win some. not anymore. the masters have been left behind with the 1500 and the new programs. i have a friend that is a master that could play a very good game with my old fritz 5.32 or shredder4, both on the 550 pentium lll. but with the new 1500 and the latest programs, he cant handle 1500 and gambit tiger at all. when i watch him try the new system it is obvious. completely different level of chess. oh well. i have said to much. good luck. thanks
