I had experienced the same thing in my program so I gave it a penalty if it
moved back to the same square that it came from. The problem is (I think) that
the program reaches a point where it seems to lose no matter what it does so it
just moves back to its last square where it did not seem to be in trouble.
Another possible solution, which I have not tried yet is if the program is
thinking about moving back to its last occupied square then increase you ply
depth by one.
