On a K7/600 with 30 MB hash Chest needs 101 seconds to find a mate in 8:
Nexf6+ exf6 Bg6+ Rxg6 Qxg6+ Bxg6 Nxf6+ Bxf6 bxc8Q+ Ke7 gxf8Q+ Kxe6 Qxf6+ Kd5 Qe5
Was it too easy for the playing programs? Crafty 17.7 on the same hardware
with 96M hash says:
(2) 6-> 53.95 21.91 1. Nxd6+ Qxd6 2. Nxf6+ exf6 3. cxd7+
Qxd7 4. exd7+ Nxd7 5. Re1+ Ne7 6. g8=Q+
Nf8 7. Bxb6 Bf7 8. Bxd8 Bxg8 9. b8=Q
7 54.11 ++ 1. Nxd6+!!
7 1:45 24.22 1. Nxd6+ Qxd6 2. Nxf6+ exf6 3. cxd7+
Qxd7 4. exd7+ Nxd7 5. g8=Q+ Nf8 6.
Bxb6 Bf3 7. Qxf3
7 3:43 ++ 1. Nexf6+!!
7 5:03 Mat08 1. Nexf6+ exf6 2. Qg6+ Rxg6 3. Bxg6+
Nxg6 4. Nxf6+ Bxf6 5. g8=Q+ Nf8 6.
bxc8=Q+ Qd8 7. Qxd8+ Bxd8 8. Qxf8#
It appears to be not easy, but also not very hard.
