I played a game between my engine and Anmon and even though that Pepito played quite well it didn't manage to get the win. Ra8 Bd5 So I felt like it could have done more (even so, the endgame might be drawn after all, opposite coloured bishops...) and I started playing my own side variation from move 47 (same time control). 47. Rb1 ... Re2 ??? I don't understand. I think AnMon should block the b pawn with the bishop. 48. b5 Kg6 49. Rb4 Bc2 50. c6 Re8 51. c7 Bf5 52. Rd4 Ra8 53. Bb6 Rc8 54. Rd8 h5 55. Rxc8 Bxc8 56. Be3 Bd7 We got to this interesting ending. I think computers may have problems here because they probably can't resist to play b6 to create a protected passer. AnMon was thinking I would do that all the time. So... here comes the test. Which programs can win from this position and thus avoid b6 ? You need that square to penetrate with the king. I'm a class C player and I can see this pattern easily, so I just won't accept computers are GM strength if they keep failing at simple endgames like this one. Any GM program out there?
