The point isn't 100% clear cut. There's always a trade off between quality of evaluation and depth of search. Even a "material only" evaluation will eventually pick up a bad position, and even the best evaluations are not yet anywhere near 100% accurate (a truly accurate evaluation would have only 3 values - win, lose, or draw). -g > >>-- >>GCP
