I did not know that disabling the internal cache was slowing the PIII so much!

Actually the rule is that doubling the speed gives a 70 elo increase.
So the general formula to compute elo differences based on speed ratio is:
elo_diff = 70 * log(speed_ratio) / log(2)
A speed ratio of 4 makes a 140 elo points difference.
A speed ratio of 500 gives a 628 elo points difference.
