Not kooky, just a guy that knows what to say and to do for keeping and fostering a new academic post. "Only the best" etc is for atractting candorous boys; once he accomplish that, his position will be safe. Students means professor, assistant professor, clerks, all the machine. You can bet such was the way arcane specialities were created in every university in the world. fernando
