Subject: ECM98 Analysis (1-50)

Author: Howard Exner

I've examined the first 50 positions using the Book and Rebel.
The ones Rebel 8 (K6-233) found in less than 5 seconds were
3 7 10 17 19 24 31 33 35 38 46 47 and 48 . Note that #48 should
have the best move changed from Bf2+ to Rd1+.

What are other testers finding as easy in this first 50 batch?
Do we want to eliminate the problems found in "less than X"
by the majority of programs?

Some other candidates for elimination are
14 - both Ra-c1 and Rf-c1 transpose. Also this one leads to
nothing decisive as black has a nice defensive resource not
found in the book.

18 - vague or indecisive?

26 - not decisive

"Not decisive" in my use of it means that the book may not
have played the best moves therefore no real combination resulted.
If others find these so then we can drop them. Perhaps a smaller,
less controversial suite is more beneficial than a larger one
with debatable key moves.
