I have taken it upon myself to MANUALLY play a little match between Chessmaster
6000 and Chessmaster 8000. I'm going to play at least 12 games, and as many as
20, at G/60. Here are the first six.
The games are played on "identical" PIII-600 machines, and each engine is using
a 16MB hash table. Otherwise, all settings (including the books) are default.
I'm going to switch computers for the next six games.
The only "questionable" result is in Game 6 (the only loss for CM8K), which I
would chalk up to a problem with the book. 18.Rh3 is a significant error, and
the evals dropped from around 0 to around -0.75 with that move. But, that's the
breaks. Maybe CM6K will make a bad move later in the match! ;-)
