"Hallo" Hannu,

I try this under Shredder 5.0.
But it is now easy for other commercial GUIs which have not all this great
WinBoard options. The most have a simple WinBoard support.

So I think it is not possible to play with TheKing under other commercial GUIs.
The problem is here the "parameter" for the FirstInitString and
SecondInitString. But I hope that more WB support is comming with time.

I don`t know but I believe that TheKing dosen`t work under commercial GUIs.

But it is not important for me because the most power have an engine under
WinBoard. I hope Tim Mann add now a new options in WinBoard.

Own Book = on / off
And create own book from PGN

This options for the WinBoard GUI, so user can play with all 102 WinBoard
Engines with a standard book (interesting for tourneys).

TheKing works under WinBoard with:

01. Move Now
02. Analyse Mode
03. Edit Mode
04. Adjust hashtables
05. Ponder works fine

All works fine.
Not ...

01. TableBases
02. Opening Book :-((

Important is to add under fd=firstInitString and sd=secondInitString in the
WinBoard.ini

All is legal for me, because user must have the CM8000 CD for playing with The
King under WinBoard. The Chessmaster GUI is also great and one of the best chess
GUIs. Here I must say that WB engines works also very good under Chessmaster and
user have also a lot of possibilitys (good work from the Chessmaser team) but we
have a lot of Winboarder which have fun on Winboard and so I think it is
fantastic that now after Nimzo and Gandalf the third top program is playing
under WinBoard (the right way).

Best
Frank
