And also on your selection of the huge number of compiler switches in the program, what did you take (e.g. Nullmove, recursive Nullmove, DeepSearch, ON or OFF...). In my opinion, the GNU chess 4.77 (and maybe later) already plays on a very reasonable level. (But certainly still lower than Crafty). On a P200MMX, I guess 2300 or even slightly above.
