Deep Junior was 2702 last year in a Super Tournament (average FIDE 2702) and did loose to Kramnik. The HW for the Deep Fritz vs Kramnik match will be faster and without the 3 month SW evaluation period that Kramnik has to prepare for the program this would be a very intereesting match (I think Kramnik would still win, but it would be close). With the 3 month evaluation period, if Fritz gets more than .5, it will be astounding (but possible, I expect a couple of surprises for Kramnik). Commercial programs have proven themselves to be worthy of this type of challenge and perhaps Chess Tiger or others might even be a better match against GM Kramnik. Just my 2 cents. :) Best Regards, Chris Carson
