You can try a simple test and give it the following position: [D]1r6/8/3k4/pP6/1K6/8/8/2R5 w - - 0 1 If it can also see Kxa5 mate in 29 then the engine is accesing the tablebases. If it cannot see mate in 29 then it is obvious that Fritz gui is accesing the tablebases. Uri
