(The book seems very good!) > > Tanya, D. 1. Scrappy always runs on a 550mhz quad xeon. Roughly 1M nodes per second average. Crafty runs either on the same hardware, or on occasion (particularly on the weekends or late at night) on my quad xeon 700. This machine is close to 50% faster which would put it at around 1.5M nodes per second in good positions. 2. I use the same book on both programs, made from "enormous.pgn" on my ftp site. Command: "book create enormous.pgn 60 10 50" the quad 550 (scrappy) is maybe 50% faster than a 1ghz machine. Actually, since I run linux and use GCC, which is significantly worse than MSVC, it is probably even slower than that 1.5X faster, maybe closer to around 1.2-1.3X faster than a 1ghz machine.
