Rate of Play 1.1 For a game to be rated each player must have a minimum of two hours in which to complete all the moves, assuming the game lasts 60 moves. Examples of various ways in which this can be achieved follow: (GA '95) The rate of play must not exceed 23 moves per hour at any stage. All the moves in two hours. 40 moves in 2 hours, followed by all the moves in 30 minutes. All the moves in 100 minutes but each time a player makes a move an additional 30 seconds is added to the clock time. 1.2 Games played with all the moves at a rate faster than the above are excluded from the list. 1.3 For games to count for title applications a six hour session is required at least. Where the session is less than seven hours, only one such result can be used in support of a title application. Where a certain number of moves is specified in the first time control, it is recommended this be 40 moves. Players benefit from uniformity here. Best Regards, Chris Carson
