That there was called that we find Fischer and Kasparov are the greatest players because of the brilliant games they played Then there are lower rated players who have played with a higher skill then Kasparov or Fischer games. Because the name Gufeld starts to pop up then. He did not have a high rating, only because his performance, was not constant. Fischer many times did get chances which you would not get these days. because his opponents could not defend as well as Gm's of to day can one big difference, between a GM and a Program, is the evaluation of a small, or clear or advantage or unclear positions! And how, to take profit from that. or how, to improve the position positionally.(In times there are no good tactical moves available) As long as programs, only can calculate ,this will never change, (an option is position table bases Or an extremely improved type of learning) Or it has to calculate very deep. For instance really 20 to 40 ply's ahead (10 to 20 full moves) Though I do think in many positions chess programs are much stronger then Humans are The pity is the lack of positional understanding.
