The low power embedded devices are slowly creeping over the 500MHz mark and some have rather high IPV (Istructions per clock) so the high end embedded MIPS and ARM cores are close to 1GMIPS. When the Palm goes ARM I might concider it since I dislike the 68k architecture and see the ARM as rectifying all design mistakes made in the 68k line. I also heard that Palm Inc. is going to split into two companies. One producing PDAs and a joint venture revriting and controlling the PalmOS.
