Bob, Ofcourse programs will never get the GM title as long as they are banned from tournaments. End of story. But the criteria listed is the criteria for a GM title, like it or not, fair or not, that is the criteria. :) However, programs are clearly getting 2500 performance on 500Mhz and 2600+ on 866Mhz and above. I have not cherry picked any games, these are just the total results from 232 games. :) The average GM was 2525 last year, I will re-calculate that later. The computers are clearly operating at or above the average GM rating on 500Mhz and above. Also, the IM's and GM's that I have talked to agree that the programs play at their level on single processor machines and they are very respectful fo the SMP machines. I know some GM's have a different view, great, I can live with that. :) Programs still have weakness so research remains and will continue for a long time, even after the programs have 2800 performances in the next 3 years (or sooner) if people play them. I think the smart GM's will continue to play progrmas and get paid for it. :) Best Regards, Chris Carson
