Subject: Beowulf v1.5 Has Been Released

I've just released the source code for Beowulf version v1.5 on my website (see
below). I never really got round to releasing v1.4 properly, though I believe
Dann did release the .exe at some point. New since version .1.3;

  Version 1.4

  Bugfix to opening book code
  Bugfix to hash table code
  Incremental hash key updates
(Which had virtually no effect for those of you who said it would!)
Rewrote NULL move depth reduction code
Fixed problems with the analysis mode
Tidied up one or two bits of code

  Version 1.5

  Eval score tweaks
Fixed one annoying bug in the scoring function
Personality files - customise the computer player!
  A few slight algorithm changes

I hope it works OK. I fixed several bugs that I'd introduced and improved some
compatibility problems. The personality files are a big new addition - check out
the beowulf.cfg file where you can specify the path to the personality file of
your choice (or none at all, where Beowulf decides on sensible defaults). Thanks
to Dann who did most of the coding for this one.

I think the overall strength is slightly higher than version v1.3. I played a
match versus Sjeng v10.0 overnight on 5 min blitz and Beowulf won 41-22.

  Enjoy!

  Cheers,
  Colin
