I don't have the position handy, but someone posted a position on r.g.c.c yesterday where crafty couldn't find the mate very quickly. The right move was Rg7 and it was a mate in 6, but a hard one with few checks. I tried the normal crafty and I believe it took a 12 ply search (and over 7 minutes) to find the first of two mates (Rg8 is mate in 7, Rg7 is mate in 6). I tried it on my laptop (750mhz PIII) and it found the first mate in 48 seconds. I didn't realize until way later that this version had the "mini-SE" code enabled. So in that position, it made a difference. I haven't found a lot of 'em yet, however. I am going to run ECM with and without, with no SMP stuff active, and compare those next.
