Subject: Never Ending Tourney (NET)

In my opinion, long term tournaments nowadays do not make much sense anymore,
since hardly a day goes by without some new, better or improved engine getting
released. So once a tourney is finished, the participating engines have already
been replaced by their juniors, and tournament results show nothing but
statistical value for "old" engines.

I have therefore started this Never Ending Tourney: Each engine has to play 20
games against every other engine. Every new engine of a certain strength (only
top engines are allowed, maybe some sub-league will follow some day) will be
added, once it's publicly available.

Hardware:

AMD Athlon Thunderbird Axia 1367 MHz with 512 MB SDRAM PC 133.
160 MB Hash Table size for each engine.
Tournament Settings:

Played under Fritz 6/7 GUIs.
40/40; 40/40, 40.
Each engine uses it's native book (if available, otherwise general.ctg from
'ChessBase Young Talents' will be used).
Booklearning on.
Booklearning will be resetted after each match suite.
No permanent brain
All 5 piece tablebases available.
Engines:

Deep Fritz
Fritz 5.32
Fritz 6c
Fritz 7 (when available)
Chess Tiger 14.0
Gambit Tiger 2.0
Junior 6
Junior 7
Shredder 5.32
Gandalf 4.32h
Gandalf 5 (when available)
Nimzo 8
Hiarcs X99 (7.32)
Hiarcs 8 (when available)
Goliath Light 2.0 (when available)
Crafty 18.10

Engine list gets updated once a new engine gets added.
Games and results will be updated after each run, probably once a week.

Tournament started on June 23, 2001 with 20 games of Fritz 6c vs. Gandalf 4.32h.

Have fun,
Andreas
