I am afraid that I shall write a little more than I deem polite. But, I have to, because I have found Mr. Czub's latest posts both here and on rgcc rather malign. From the above quotes it seems quite obvious that it is NOT Thoralf Karlsson who is arrogant and aggressive (as described by Thorsten Czub) but the other way round... The fact that Mr. Czub cannot present evidence "about which games Fritz is NOT playing since this is not possible" (sic!) is one of the most irrational statements I've read so far on this forum, and one full of profound fetishism whose object of love (katexis) is the 'knowledgeable' program, and whose object of hate (inverted katexis) is the 'Fritz-like calculator, deep searcher' and the like. This fetishism runs deep and goes back a long time -- I remember Mr. Czub's ecstatic reviews of one of the older Kaplan's programs (Analyst D ++) and his shrieking claims about how it 'understood' chess, and the enormous fonts of the type "NA? Ueberzeugt dass Kaplan Schach spielen kann? / Wer findet das in welcher Zeit?? / Hier is ein Plan am Reifen", etc. All this can be and was quite enchanting as long as it does not turn into outright disgust with the Other -- be it another concept of programming, another opinion, another style, and, God forbid, another opponent in discussion. Disgust thwarts the wish to discuss (have you ever wished to discuss some matter with someone disgusting?) and leads to a particular sort of prejudice that is especially rampant in computer chess as we all tend to see the little bots as extensions of ourselves... little antropomorphic toys that seem to have a mind of their own. I am afraid that Mr. Czub has crossed the line and it is nigh impossible to rationally discuss computer chess with him. I refrain from extrapolating this conclusion and prefer to remain within the confines of computer chess, not knowing Mr. Czub personally. I only wish he showed more understanding for opposing programming concepts. The other points he touched upon -- the financial and political concerns that he mentioned -- are beyond my ken. Mr. Czub, neither Fritz nor CST are faultless, neither are perfect, one of them excells in one area, the other in another. Please do reacquaint yourself with parameters different from the ones you care about, and do remind yourself that the world is not a black-and-white world of Wittgenstein's Tractatus, but a chiarroscuro etching with fuzzy edges. Kind regards, Djordje
