I think the whole poll is almost irrelevant. For any sort of
comparision, the conditions of the comparision ought to be spelled out
in advance. For instance, "We used the standard opening books that came
on the CD's" or "We used custom opening books that were delivered by
couriers with briefcases handcuffed to their wrists" or "We did not use
an opening book."
Obviously, the tests measure different things. But to say, "All
experiments ought to be executed thusly <and try to spell it out>" is a
bit silly. {IMO-YMMV].
