For what purpose, Odell?
If you just make text processing, a 8088 worth $1 is decent enough.
If you play chess and you are around 2000-2200 player, you will be defeated 9
times of ten or more by any top program running even in a 266 Mhz.
If you are calculating rockets trayectories, probably the decent thing to do is
get a Cray machine.
I have an indecent 550 Mhz AMD-K-6 processor and I scarcely can get a point in
five games from top programs. More than enough for me.
My advice is: do not get involved in the rat race for speedier computers. You
will never stop and you will never heal a deep wound in your budget. The sage,
smart thing to do is to dedide what YOU need, not what your pals, sellers and
magazines say you need.
My best
Fernando
