I think so. The decision may still have occured earlier, but obviously not so
early, or less often so early (in average), that the games can end during the
middlegame or early endgame to the same percentage as in the past.

Meanwhile I've had an idea, what the reason could be for the missing decrease of
the number of moves the XP-X database endgame is played: I think there may be
two effects which compensate each other. Not only the attacker, but also the
defender plays better due to tb use - and the latter may increase the number of
moves often, especially if the attacker doesn't use tbs.
