Master chess players have a huge pride and would prepare against a >computer program that they must meet ! > >wayne i don't know a single strong chess player who uses a program 'to develop chess skills'. i use chessbase and fritz, and i mainly use fritz to check tactics. all good players i know do the same. there is nothing you can learn from these programs except that they are better at tactics :-) i am also sure that the players in argentine do not prepare hard for their game against the computer. if they had to play a match against it, and there was money at stake, then they would prepare specifically. as it is, it is a single game they play against the computer, and there is not much to gain or lose. they probably think up something on the evening before the game, that's it. a few hours preparation, not more. cheers martin
