i don't know a single strong chess player who uses a program 'to develop chess
skills'. i use chessbase and fritz, and i mainly use fritz to check tactics. all
good players i know do the same. there is nothing you can learn from these
programs except that they are better at tactics :-)
i am also sure that the players in argentine do not prepare hard for their game
against the computer. if they had to play a match against it, and there was
money at stake, then they would prepare specifically. as it is, it is a single
game they play against the computer, and there is not much to gain or lose. they
probably think up something on the evening before the game, that's it. a few
hours preparation, not more.
