Sigh. You should read what I wrote more carefully. I am not judging Karpov by
any measure. The point of the argument was that the fact that he lost to
Christiansen didn't mean Christiansen was suddenly at a similar level of the WC.
Why? Because he won due to a horrible blunder and not a battle of wits. Yes,
Christiansen won a point, and I'm sure he was very pleased about it, but I don't
think he actually thought this meant anything about their relative ability. Same
goes for Tiger vs. Ricardi. Tiger got a point, but because of the way the game
started, I don't think one can draw any conclusions about who is stronger from
it.
