Dr. Hyatt is looking more and more like a >Quack. Hyatt may be strongly opinionated, but he is anything BUT a quack. (And what do you have against Ducks, anyway? :-) ) When the GM's have the incentive to wallop the micro's, and yes I mean $$$$$, (see Hyatt's post below this one regarding "Anti-computer playing..."). THEN we'll see the REAL ability of the programs versus the GM's. Ask yourself just how hard are you going to train yourself to beat a micro when the micro can't win the prize$$$$, anyway? Am I the only who believes Kasparov would have walked through Deep Blue like a hot knife through butter on a July day, IF he had the opportunity to see more of DB's games and prepare accordingly? Someday, the computers will outplay all GM's, I think, but I do not believe the current programs can, **If** the GM's prepare, and that includes seeing lots of the computers previous contest chess games.** Which seems only fair since the computers take their book openings very largely from GM play, and the programmers are free to peruse the GM's previous contest games.
