My personal opinion is that programmers rely on opening books a little too much. If you trust that opening theory is 100% correct, or that the position given to the program ok at the end of the line, then that's how you end up in trouble. If a programmer thinks that someone is booking up against his program, then I'd suggest to make the opening book *smaller*. The likelyhood of getting out of the book is easier, and the possibility of someone booking up for 30 moves is reduced. In fact, I'd recommend programmers they test their programs (without opening book) vs their competitors' programs (with opening book) and see what kind of results they get. Baldo.
