>maybe j7 won because of a later edition of the opening book rather than a >superior engine! To be honest, a one point difference doesn't point at a superior engine on neither side. I think their strenght at short time controls is roughly the same. I understand that J7 plays positionally better than J6, so strenght differences should appear in STC games. About the opening book, I doubt this, as both leave the opening quite well in most games. The only game where (nota bene) Junior 7 leaves his opening book in a worse position, and screws up quite quickly is this game: Junior 6.0 - Junior 7 [D12] 1.d4 d5 2.c4 c6 3.e3 Nf6 4.Nf3 Bf5 5.Nc3 e6 6.Nh4 Be4 7.f3 Bg6 8.cxd5 exd5 9.Be2 Bd6 10.g3 Qd7 11.0-0 Qh3?! 12.e4 Nh5 [D]rn2k2r/pp3ppp/2pb2b1/3pP2n/3P3N/2N2PPq/PP2B2P/R1BQ1RK1 b kq - 0 13 13.e5 13...Be7?
