Mr. Gibert, the reason why the Spitfire account has done well is not attributed to some sinister plot to become "King of the Hill" it's about several things for me. I consider myself a fierce competitor, whether it be at the game of chess or at life, it doesn't matter. My love of computers and chess merged and manifested itself into the Spitfire account. Before the account, as a hobby, I worked hours upon hours on overclocking projects. At the same time, hours upon hours studying chess. I always wanted to see that monster of a program take out a legendary GM. So I only provided my account(didn't matter what program) with the opportunity to get there and it happend. That's my perspective. And hell yeah, it's exciting watching the likes of Mecking, SWM, and JRLOK play your account daily. I win some and I lose some, but they're all exciting games! It's almost like having front row tickets at Ali/Frazier. It's the best against the best, and it gives you an indication exactly where humans stand against computers. So it's in the best intrest of my account to use, in my opinion, the most versitile and strongest program available. Whatever that program my be at the time. So plainly put, I don't have the same chess aspirations as most of you. I'm a software engineer but have no desire to become an author of my own program. Why invent the wheel when you can use and tweak one readily available. That's a known programming practice and occurs everyday. So when I speak of accomplishments, I speak of my account not programs. In my initial post, I posted results with no text and had no intentions of giving any. I've seen other post of ICC results so I felt perfectly in line with doing so. But, to my suprise it offended some. It's an open forum so that tuff for those folks. Even after the Spitfire account has expired there will still be a demand for computers with so called inflated ratings, because GMs will always look to dominate through the point system. Hopefully this will shed some light on the fact that not all the people in this forum think alike. Cheers! Curtis
