Yes :). Some of your questions are answered by this table I compiled:
This was based on running ca. 30 positions on each platform for ca.
4.5 minutes each (my test protocol isn't on my hard drive at the moment,
so I'm a bit vague.)

It works fine for me on 8.6, 8.5.1, 8.5, 8.1 and 7.5. I've never tried 9.

Yes - see above. At the same MHz, Hiarcs runs faster on G3s than any
Intel-compatible chip I have data for. The author assures me that the source
code for the engine is identical between the two versions of 7.0.
