Have you played the same engines under both GUIS? For excample have you played engine A under Winboard against engine A under CB. I think this is the only way to calculate the real differences between 2 GUIS. Normally it's not possible that an Winboard Engine is stronger under CB. Also the games you have played aren't enough to make good ratings. In 50 or 100 games the failure can be to high. To calculate a rating difference between 2 Winboard engines under 2 different GUIS do the following: Run Engine A (for excample Crafty) under Winboard on Computer A and the same Winboard version under CB on a second Computer. Don't use a native version of Crafty under CB, because it's not the same. Now play 200 or 300 games. This requires 2 computers with the same hardware. I have made this with my Engine Holmes, and i was surprised that there was a very big difference. As far as i know there was a difference of about 80 ELO weaker under CB. Andreas
