Don't get down on yourself for it. If it's any comfort, I had an absolutely
disastrous tournament a couple of months ago after being away for 7 months from
play, and started with 0/4 ! Granted the average opposition was 2300, but I
managed to blunder away a good 3 points if you consider I was up an exchange in
one and up a pawn in two others. Some truly appalling cases of chess blindness.
Yeeeeeeck. Take a good book on tactics (or a program such as "Chess Tactics for
Beginners" or "CT-Art 3.0") and keep at it. Chess is 99% tactics, and don't let
anyone else tell you otherwise. Without tactics, nothing else will hold up, so
that's where I'd start. Good luck. :-)
