This game proves that there's hope for the rest of us. Today, in the Vidmar Memorial tournament, in a game between GM Mohr (2468)and GM Crisian (2635), this position arose: [D]8/8/5k2/4r3/8/4RP2/4K3/8 b - - 0 1 GM Crisian played 57. ...Ra5??, instead of ...Rxe3 with an elementary draw. Later in the game, this position arose: [D]5k2/5R2/6K1/5P2/8/8/8/2r5 b - - 0 1 Here, GM Crisian played 87. ...Ke8?? losing, instead of ...Kg8 drawing. As Rueben Fine taught us, the defending King should move to the short side of the pawn. On Kasparovchess.com is was reported that GM Crisian's rating is considered by many to be grossly overstated.
