I think this option was introduced with Junior 5 (or even 4.6, I can't remember). I have managed to find my Junior 5 CD booklet. It's really interesting what it says about this threshold, compared to Fabio's impressions (I hope I don't spoil some of his fun when I quote it): "Threshold (default = -9999): Junior will not find or report moves that evaluate lower than the threshold (and therefore is not guaranteed to find ANY move). This option must only be used in analysis mode and not in actual play. Measured in centipawns." Therefore, +8000 would mean Junior doesn't report moves below +80 pawns! Obviously, this has no effect on gameplay - he wouldn't been able to play... I hope we stopped the building of a legend :o) Or we can't stop it, and people will start to discuss "No... +5000 is much better! ... Wrong! Junior gains 30 elo with +3000 threshold ... I've experience it beats most opponent with -6000! ...." :o) It's really better asking first "How does it work?". Might have been a good question for sunday, if I wouldn't have found the booklet. But feel free to repeat it there if you like... maybe we get additional comments (i.e. what the use of this option is anyway :o). http://www.computerschach.de/sprechstunde/index.htm Regards, M.Scheidl
