This one looked tough for Rebel when Crafty's well placed Knight was the better minor piece over Rebel's poor Bishop. It is somewhat comforting to know that these well established principles (ie:good Knight vs bad Bishop) still hold true. There are though some lines that might transpose into Rook vs Rook with Crafty up a pawn and these are traditionally tough to convert (as in the same opponents in KKup #1) But I think this game will produce a crafty win. > >game 2 -- this is a tight one, white with a probable >pawn advantage in the endgame. This is one of those games where Fritz's aggressive "weakening" of the king's position failed to work. Often with Fritz though this type of aggression can produce spectacular wins. > >game 4 -- white wins. Computers really show off in games like these. Both CM5500's handling of the Knights and Crafty's stubborn defense are easily on par with GM's. Raw tactics in a wide open board is the domain of these programs. > >game 5 -- too early to tell, call it a draw. Fritz might convert the material advantage.
