I don't agree with this. In my opinion they
should test like Consumer's Union does, buy the
products tested through standard retail channels and
accept nothing of value from the manufacturers. Any
financial connection reduces the credibility of the
tests.
Suppose they were accepting $5000 a year from
ten programs and their tests showed one to be far
superior. The other nine would force them to change
their test procedure.
