From my experience, I have found the following values to be pretty good: equality slight edge clear advantage decisive/winning 0.0 0.30 - 0.35 0.80 - 0.85 1.30 - 1.35 Of course, the values will vary somewhat from program to program. You really have to experiment with the particular software you are using. It is important to remember that it is just a computer's opinion. I have a position in my home preparation where the machine thinks the score is 1.45 or so in Black's favour, but a GM assesses the position as a clear advantage to white! (My opinion is that the GM is closer to the truth in the particular case, the software doesn't appreciate the value of a passed d-pawn on the 6th rank in the middlegame. :) Dave Gomboc CFC 2129
