Hello "Elvis"

I'm not quite sure I understand Your answer correct, but let me rephrase
- my primary motive was based on nostalgia - You know the song? -
induced by reading all the more or less relevant messages about SSDF
(originally based on the serious matter regarding autotest, etc.),
everybody suggesting how SSDF (sic!) ought to perform their tests. I,
too prefer a list with minimum deviation from "reality" or maximum
reliability, which is trivial. Nostalgia, that was all!
And Yes, it was nice days where the testers were not depended of the
programmers, i.e. primarily bought the machines for private use.

Regarding the matter of Ply being "dedicated strongly to the natives of
Sweden", I must correct You; 1) The mainsubject and the editorial line
for Ply is computerchess and I do not think Sweden's are especially
"equipped" here;). Only obstacle is the language (which explain the
expressed wish). 2) In relation to the over-all quoting of Ply (list) in
media/Net one hardly can believe that Ply is limited to the
"Scandinavian community". Just look at this forum…

RightYou are about a potential quality in questioning. It's no sacrilege
nor related to inside/outside, but remember the fact that it's still a
little club of devoted people, basically not asking for the worlds
sanction, but "just" playing with computers (before the Net, interested
programmers and others got password to the former related BBS, where
they could download the lists and comment in general), and use the
results in e.g. their marketing! The in/out-matter was an figurative
invitation to serve SSDF equivalent to the obvious importance it has
e.g. in this forum…
Regarding my personal position in the universe of those gone days. Well,
if You'd read Danish magazines, You would have found tests/evaluations
of CC (Voice-don't remember its name, but: "This is CC, Your
computeropponent,... or something like that with rusty voice)", Boris,
Morphy, Stenitz, Super Constellation, an interview with the (Danish)
maker of - was it Turbostar, among other things + some early testgames
for SSDF ;)

As I said, I'm not sure I understood Your posting, but in the matter of
competence I certainly not pretend it' is in front of my screen, which
though not necessarily means, that I can't get bored of "kindred
spirits". And the very reason why I'm on this board is the presence of
the opposite - no names are necessary, they e.g. make thrilling
applications faster than one can catch up to familiarize with.

Sensitive space we have here or?

Best regards,

kim

PS. I still think it's a funny idea 25 or 50.000 people joining Ply -
think of all the testgames! OK - lesser can do it.
