I think that white can hold on to its f pawn in this game after something like Rxd7 followed by g7-g5 (white replys f4-f5). Crafty I believe would spot this if it were possible, thus the huge minus score it is producing. As a side here is an oddball position that will give your favorite chess program a nervous breakdown. It combines the two Knight theme and the drawing c pawn on the 7th theme. It's just a fun position that would never occur in a real game. K6n/2P5/1q6/8/8/7k/8/n7 b White: Ka8 Pc7 Black: Kh3 Qb6 Na1 Nh8 Black to move cannot win this position despite the huge material advantage. Computers will know in there search that exchanging the Queen for the pawn will lead to a draw but probably most, if not all, will give black a big plus score in the eval. Black's best try is to enter a QNK v QK ending (white will win one of the black Knights with a check/fork) but that is a draw also. Unless Ferret finds a mate in two hundred and something :-)
