Hi, I fully agree. I have many chess programs (REBEL8, FRITZ5, HIARCS6, GENIUS, THE KING 2.54...), but I only use a few of them. I use FRITZ5 with the FRITZ5 or HIARCS6 engine mainly for game analysis. Sometimes I play against them, but they are by far to strong for me. (My rating on ICC was about 2210 in blitz games, german rating about 2050+/-30, ELO half number about 2300.) Before I have got CSTAL, I mainly played against THE KING because of its very aggressive playing style. In almost every second or third game he sacrifices something for attacking chances. BUT: Now I have CSTAL! It has a wonderful playing style! Almost every game against it is a very interesting attacking game. I always have the feeling that I can beat the program and sometimes it even happens. So my score against CSTAL is better than against FRITZ5 (No victory in about 100 games at highest ELO level!!!) or REBEL8. But if I lose against Fritz5, in many cases I lose because of a "blunder" in a long game where my position was not very bad. Against CSTAL, I lose in a really "brilliant" way. Sometimes he throws a chess bomb into my position. The program plays really suprisingly moves that no other program would play! Therefore, I love it to play against CSTAL. I would be very gratefully if Chris would make further developments on his little "chess monster". The main drawbacks of the program are, in my opinion, that it is impossible to analyse a whole game automatically and that you cannot enter the moves of a game while CSTAL is analysing simultaneously.
