I suggest that the opinion poll managers include a `Comment' feature. This allows the poll respondents to make a comment in addition to ticking off one of the poll choices, if they so choose. The comments are stored for the duration of the poll and then, when the poll results are archived, a representative cross section of poll comments are included. Advantage: This feature (which I observed on the Doonesbury web site) humanizes the poll, makes it far more interesting in my view. I find people's personal reactions to the opinion poll as or more relevant than a column of percentages. Disadvantage: Your editors (newly elected!) will have to spend a little time sorting through and culling out the comments. (Be sure to make clear that this selection process is strictly an editorial prerogative!) Example: The current poll didn't quite nail my principle use of computer chess programs. I use them for training, primarily for learning openings and transitions from openings to middle game plans. All I could do was tick `other' but I had to invent this post to elaborate on what I meant! Regards Rob
