Ponti The key to beating Kramnik is to vary many aspects of play from game to game as possible. In DB v GK '97, DB played very aggressively in the first game - and lost. IMO, Deep Fritz should play slowly and solidly in the first game, when VK will be "feeling it out", and aim for a draw. In this game, the value parameters should be tuned unusually - e.g. value knights above bishops etc. King safety should be turned up. Although VK might be able to win with attacks against the king, we don't want him to know that in the first game. Finally, once out of book, the rate of play should be as slow as possible. Assuming we get the draw in the 1st game, we go for the win in the 2nd game. Set the values back to "normal", turn down the king safety, turn up the aggression, and play the moves at an audaciously quick rate (e.g. 1 minute per move) - don't give VK time to think. Aim to create mid-game mayhem. This will maximise our chances of getting a win. -g
