Please pardon the extremely serious nature of this response, but this topic matters to me, a great deal. There are plenty of arguments for telling Chris that if he wants to register another account here, he won't be prevented from doing this, but the entertainment value of caustic posts is an extremely poor reason. I think that it is important for people to consider what kind of group they want this to be. There are a lot of kinds of information we can exchange here. We can talk about chess program technical issues, we can talk about how this or that program fared against this or that opponent, we can talk about games, whatever. We will probably also end up talking about politics, and this is going to cause arguments, which might become pretty heated. There is a lot to dislike about this sort of discussion, but sometimes some good comes out of them, so it should be OK to have this sort of discussion. This kind of thing is the reason freedom of speech was invented. But there are other kinds of interchange that I have endured in the past, and that I would really really like to avoid having to endure in the future. For instance, malicious personal attacks. This may not bother some of you who are reading these attacks, but as someone who has been the target, it is not fun. It is also not fun for me to see people I know dragged through the mud unfairly. So if the kind of group people want this to be is one where it is OK to insult people as long as it is done in interesting fashion, then count me out. I am not interested in being attacked, or watching my friends be attacked, or watching people who are just simply innocent being attacked, in order to make entertainment for others. I've spent a lot of time arguing with Chris about this or that. I have come to the conclusion that I dislike him, a lot. I am not going to be go through months of arguing with this guy again. Life is too short for this, I have better things to do, the arguments are always extremely unproductive. So if Chris comes back and starts doing his deal again, look for a brief, but extremely sharp, response from me, and then one of us will be gone for good, I don't particularly care who. bruce
