With 80 GB hard drives around $200... How many of them would it take to have all the following on a single PC: o Chessbase 8 with megabase (or whatever they call it) o Chess Assistant 6 o "Total Chess Training" o Fritz 6 o Junior 7 o Tiger/Gambit (with the non-CB GUI) o Shredder 5 o The 9-CD tablebase that seems popular nowadays, plus any other equivalently-deep tablebases that may be necessary to support the above programs (hopefully all can use that single one) o a couple dozen other freeware engines for CB and/or Winboard o MS-Office XP Pro o Windows 2000 o Norton Systemworks 2001 o Visual C++ 6 o Visual Basic 6 o Some good Java development tools o about 5 gigs of miscellaneous other non-chess stuff
