These chips I'm talking about could be here any day now. It's only a question of business and marketing. The Alpha architecture moght as well be dead at the present time, since Intel owns its R&D. And all the others are not even close to taping out. Except for the Itanium, but its integer performance and x86 ISA emulation is lacklustre. If I can't have commercial SMP capable programs on a platform it's back to comparing apples and oranges.
